Dominic who?
a brief and informal history
I turned up at the Physics Department at Southampton University after a very long party in 1997. During the first week in Halls I met the very lovely Claire Moreton, and many other really nice people, including Matthew Evans, who invited me to the Southampton Vineyard church, where I felt right at home. University life combined intensive and fun learning with running a web design service, and a particularly active social life! Claire and I became engaged after a year and a half together, and in the year 2000 I got a degree in Physics with Laser-Science, married Claire, had a fantastic honeymoon in Italy and started my professional career as a web developer for the imps, in Smithfield, London (lots of places to have lunch).
After the imps went the way of so many dotcoms, I searched around for a new company to commit to, and having worked for a few (many of which also went the way of so many dotcoms) I decided to try a slightly different organisation...
In 2004 I joined wherefromhere ltd as Senior Developer. They provided computing & business solutions in location-based services (Anything involving GPS, tracking, positioning, mapping and logistics). I took a full-time role there in March 2004, interesting work, nice team, good location (Winchester - lots of places to have lunch)... and even better than that - they're mountain bikers :) I left in October 2005 after the company altered its focus away from web projects.
I secured a new role before going to California for a few weeks: A web developer with Hampshire Constabulary! After a few long weeks of careful consideration against another offer I decided to work with a much larger organisation to the usual 3-15 man company I am used to! Joining up was a shock to the system (bureaucracy!) but there are many other benefits to this - and I think it rather good to be supporting the force. I'm creating and supporting web-based systems in c# & .net. I practise and promote the benefits of user-centred design within the organisation, so far having great success with a recent project, and also spending six days at the Neilsen-Norman Group's Usability Week 2006 conference.
I joined Design Haus in March 2007. More details soon.

Where I am at, and why.
I am a Christian, but hold on just a second... What you think of a christian is probably not what I am, or aim to be! True Christianity is not 'religion' and I am not 'religious'. Hmm. Have you ever tried to write down who you are? It's difficult! :) work is in progress!
"If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." - (Jesus, John 8:31-32).
